I'm a Software Engineer at Innovative-e, a Microsoft partner in project and portfolio management, where I work on large-scale distributed systems for a global client base. My job is mostly translation: taking a business requirement that arrives vague and expensive, and turning it into architecture that is specific, testable and cheap to run.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Computing from Coventry University, and I came up through the full ladder at Innovative-e — intern, trainee, associate, engineer — which means I've seen the same systems from the inside at four different levels of responsibility. That shapes how I build: I care more about the second year of a codebase than the first week.
The other half of my work is AI. Not as a demo, but as infrastructure — integrating models into the SDLC to shorten delivery cycles, automating the workflows that quietly eat a team's week, and building agentic systems with LangChain, n8n and CrewAI. I run local models too, because some problems shouldn't leave the building.
I also teach. I write and run programming training for developers coming up behind me, which is the fastest way I know to find the holes in your own understanding.
Things I care about in a codebase
- Boring, obvious code beats clever code that nobody dares change.
- The cost of a system is paid in maintenance, not in the first sprint.
- AI belongs in the delivery pipeline, not in the demo.
- If it isn't observable in production, it isn't finished.
